The decorative round Kutus basket features practical handles on both sides and is ideal for storing toys, firewood, or magazines. Its compact size also makes it a perfect fit for most shelves.

Kutus is available in three different sizes. Its natural material combination impresses with the contrasting combination of reddish-brown banana fiber and beige seagrass fibers.

Main materials: Seagrass, banana fiber

Our baskets are made from plant fibers. They therefore smell and feel wonderfully natural.

What basket weavers commonly refer to as "seagrass" is actually not an aquatic plant, but a small, palm-like plant that is widespread on sandy beaches in tropical Asia. The leaves of these plants, often cultivated by humans, are cut off, sliced ​​into strips, dried, and then processed by hand.

Banana fibers are the fibers from the layered stems of cultivated banana trees. The intense brown color develops naturally when the fibers are dried in the sun for about a week. The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic strands, approximately 6 mm thick. Only old, dying banana plants are used for this material.

This basket is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we prioritize fair wages and good working conditions. In the factories where we source our goods, we work exclusively with adult and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. Because all steps are done by hand, the production process generates minimal greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies.
