The round Pura basket is entirely handmade from banana fibers. The attached black cotton cords are artfully woven in the traditional "Kawung" pattern and are a real eye-catcher. A particularly striking contrast is created when combined with a basket featuring white cords, such as our Manduro or Kubu models.

Main material: Banana fiber

Our baskets are made from plant fibers. They therefore smell and feel wonderfully natural.

Banana fibers are the fibers from the layered stems of cultivated banana trees. The intense brown color develops naturally when the fibers are dried in the sun for about a week. The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic strands, approximately 6 mm thick. Only old, dying banana plants are used for this material.

This basket is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we prioritize fair wages and good working conditions. The companies from which we source our goods employ only adult and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the production process. Because all steps are done by hand, the production process generates minimal greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies.
