➤ The sustainable main material: cotton

Cotton is a natural plant fiber that thrives in tropical and subtropical regions and has been used by humans for thousands of years. For our products, we source sustainably harvested cotton from local farmers in Java. The fields are naturally fertilized, and the cotton is hand-selected. After ginning, the cotton is pressed into bales, combed, and spun into yarn by hand. Our cotton is skin-friendly and free of chemical processing, and therefore not suitable for tumble drying.

➤ The production process: from raw material to finished wall hanging

Each of our handcrafted wall hangings begins with high-quality cotton, carefully spun into yarn and either left in its natural color or dyed with gentle, plant-based dyes. Skilled artisans then weave the fibers on traditional looms, creating a rich, textured fabric with beautifully balanced patterns. Intricate braids and edgings are added by hand with great precision, giving each piece its distinctive depth and tactile appeal. Finally, the wall hanging is mounted on a sturdy wooden rod and finished with a durable cable, allowing it to be easily displayed wherever you wish.


➤ Our production partners: Selected according to fair trade criteria

When selecting our local production partners, we prioritize fair wages, safe working conditions, and reasonable working hours. We work exclusively with small, family-run businesses with a maximum of 20 to 30 employees. They are all experienced artisans of legal age. In particular, older people who can no longer work in agriculture benefit from jobs in handicrafts, allowing them to use the skills they learned in their youth to earn a living and pass on traditional production methods to the younger generation. They have often told us how happy they are to create something meaningful and earn a living through this work. Because all steps are carried out by hand, the production process generates virtually no greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the businesses.
