Main material: Trembesi (rain tree/monkey seed wood)
Trembezi, also known as the rain tree, is widespread throughout Southeast Asia, where it often grows along streets or in parks. Since the tree is originally from South America, no rainforest needs to be cleared for its timber production in Indonesia: the fast-growing tree is mostly found in urban areas, where it has been planted by humans as an ornamental feature. To limit its growth, the sprawling branches are regularly pruned, and the wood is used for furniture production. Our Trembezi comes from East Java. The wood is relatively similar to teak in color and texture but has a significantly better sustainability record.
Other materials: Rattan

Factory:
This stool is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we prioritize fair wages and good working conditions. In the factories where we source our goods, we work exclusively with adult and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. Because all steps are done by hand, the production process generates minimal greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies.
