Main material: Banana fiber
Our mirrors are made from plant fibers. They therefore smell and feel wonderfully natural.
Banana fibers are the fibers from the layered stems of cultivated banana trees. The intense brown color develops naturally when the fibers are dried in the sun for about a week. The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic strands, approximately 6 mm thick. Only old, dying banana plants are used for this material. This gives these plants a second life as a dimensionally stable and robust raw material for the many handmade baskets here at Soeji.
Other materials: cotton, metal frame

Factory:
This mirror is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we prioritize fair wages and good working conditions. In the factories where we source our goods, we work exclusively with adult and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. Because all steps are done by hand, the production process generates minimal greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies.
