Urup is a high-quality placemat made from sun-bleached raffia fibers. This unique material is characterized by its soft yet robust texture. Urup captivates with its fascinating multi-colored palette: the combination of fibers dried for varying lengths of time in the warm sun creates a harmonious interplay of lighter and darker tones.
Thanks to its simple round design, the placemat can be used wonderfully in many different scenarios, but we particularly like Urup as an accessory for the garden: On balmy summer evenings it becomes a stylish companion for convivial gatherings with friends and family outdoors, creating not only a natural atmosphere but also bringing timeless elegance to your table.
Urup is available as a set of 2, 4 or 6.

Material: Bast
Our placemats are made from plant fibers. They therefore smell and feel wonderfully natural.
Bast (Corypha utan) occurs naturally in the steppe and forest regions of Southeast Asia. The plant renews its leaves approximately every two years, shedding the old ones, which are then collected, dried in the sun for several days to weeks, and processed into basketry depending on the desired degree of browning. Its relative rarity and the more complex processing make this material somewhat more expensive compared to other plant fibers. While it is hardly known in Europe, the material has proven its worth among the local population in Southeast Asia in the form of all kinds of everyday objects and enjoys great popularity due to its pleasantly soft yet robust nature.
