The flower-shaped Melaya wall decoration impresses with its simplicity. It consists of only one material: untreated banana fiber in its natural dark brown color. Especially when combined with our other wall decorations, where white is usually the dominant color, you can create interesting contrasts.

Melaya can also be used as a bowl and is available in two different sizes.

Main material: Banana fiber

Our wall decorations are made from plant fibers. They therefore smell and feel wonderfully natural.

Banana fibers are fibers extracted from the layered stems of cultivated banana trees. The intense brown color develops naturally when the fibers are dried in the sun for about a week. The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic strands, which are approximately 6 mm thick. Only old, dying banana plants are used for this material.

This wall decor is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we prioritize fair wages and good working conditions. The companies from which we source our goods employ only adult and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the production process. Because all steps are done by hand, the production process generates minimal greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies.
