Materials: Rattan

Our baskets are made from plant fibers. They therefore smell and feel wonderfully natural.

Rattan palms grow in large numbers in dense forests, where they are considered invasive plants, taking up space from other plants and depleting the soil of nutrients. The stems, which grow rapidly without chemical additives, must be regularly cut and can then be used, after drying, as material for furniture and baskets. This makes rattan an extremely sustainable and readily available material.

This basket is handmade in Bali, Indonesia.
When selecting our local manufacturers, we prioritize fair wages and good working conditions. In the factories from which we source our goods, we work exclusively with adult and experienced craftspeople. No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. Because all steps are performed by hand, the production process generates minimal greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies.
