Kupang enhances your home with its clean lines and high-quality natural rattan. It's particularly well-suited as a decorative laundry basket or storage solution for other textiles like cushions or blankets, as the open structure of the basket allows for excellent ventilation. The material is so robust that even heavy firewood can be stored and transported in this basket. Thanks to the beautiful light color of the rattan, Kupang also makes a fantastic statement as a striking decorative element.

The basket is available in three sizes: one is rather short and wide, while the other two are tall and narrow. This ensures there's a suitable basket for every taste and purpose.

Please note: The sizes are sorted according to the base area, i.e. sizes S and M are tall and narrow, L is short and wide.

Materials: Rattan

Our baskets are made from plant fibers. They therefore smell and feel wonderfully natural.

Rattan palms tend to grow in large quantities in dense forests, where they are considered invasive plants because they compete for space with other plants and deplete the soil of nutrients. The fast-growing stems, which grow without chemical additives, must be regularly cut and, after drying, can be used as material for furniture and baskets. This makes rattan an extremely sustainable and readily available material.

This basket is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we prioritize fair wages and good working conditions. In the factories where we source our goods, we work exclusively with adult and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. Because all steps are done by hand, the production process generates minimal greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies.
